The Adventures of Cacophonie the Mage

Since everyone's waiting for Legion to hit and the current content is getting dry, I decided to do the Ironman challenge. To add to the experience, I made the character on a RP server lol. I'm starting this post up to document all the silliness and shenanigans I come across or experience.

Day 1 - Level 5
I walk into Goldshire Inn and the people sitting around a table are complaining about a hunter with his pet out, exclaiming: "Sir, must you bring your dinosaur into the Inn?" The hunter then trades all of us a wrapped present and inside is a Direhorn Runt battle pet, a mini version of his pet. This is cute.

Music is life. Music is Love.

"This is a really good game. Don't ever let anyone borrow it."
-Best Buy Clerk Guy

Spoken to me as I went to checkout my copy of Final Fantasy VIII many years ago. Those were words of wisdom, words of a man that experienced satisfaction from a controller and a screen.

Not that anyone ever wanted to borrow my copy but that was a damn good game. I'm sitting here listening to music tracks... and the memories just keep pouring out; overflowing; saturation in bliss; saturation in nostalgia.

Harmonica Story II

I picked up a harmonica not too long ago and began learning how to play! I got the Hohner Golden Melody key of C for about 35$ although I was contemplating the cheaper 6-8$ ones. Forgot why I decided to spend the extra money. Anyways, it has been pretty fun although I'm far from being efficient in making beautiful and lovely sounds hahah. Memorizing the notes isn't too difficult for a tune I want to play, which sort of comes natural after a while. Currently I'm working on playing single notes better and learning how to bend a note.

As for Hitotoki, I couldn't find the tabs anywhere so I'll have to come up with them sometime. Maybe I'll even make a youtube video and post the tabs so people can use it as reference in the future! There are many videos like that on there.

P.S. I created a separate blog for my anime related posts. I think this one will be more active since I seem to have more to talk about there.

Harmonica Story

Prologue: Unable to find a good new-watch and in anticipation of season 2 coming out in the spring, I decided to re-watch Oreimo.

Story: I came to like a track very much from the OST called "Hitotoki" a while back. I don't know what it translates to but google translate said it meant "moment" and for all I know, it can be something else too.

Readers and future me: close your eyes and listen to some of it (the entire thing is a bit under 2 minutes) and see what kind of image comes to mind. For me, Hitotoki paints an image of a melancholic atmosphere... where the setting sun bleed hues of crimson and gold on the characters... during the calm before a storm, or the calm after a storm.

Conclusion: One thing in real life that seems missing is background music when events and things happen. On a side note, I've always wanted to play an instrument. And this is where the two ideas collide together with me fulfilling such a role. It's kinda silly but music can brilliantly amplify emotions, feelings, and memories greatly. I think this will be the music to push me to learn the harmonica one day before the end of this year.

Spring Is Near

I keep reminding myself to make a new post for the past 8 months but whenever I get on the computer, I keep forgetting or get distracted. Tehe. Currently listening to the song here while having Rainy Mood in the background. Readers and future me are welcome to do the same to align with the me writing this post.

With graduation so does plans on what to do with my life. Without a good job offering and my favorite professor recruiting me to become a masters student, that's what I ended up doing. For doing a research track, the department covered my tuition completely and gave me a generous stipend. That's two years of my life planned out. So for the entire summer, I just lazed off and watched an insane, amount of anime. Yes, insane. Because I can never get tired of it and there's always ones that invokes great feelings and emotions in me. I just simply love it.

Near the end of summer, I forgot what sparked it but I had an urge to build a computer. I pretty much used the interwebs, youtube, and forums to learn everything I need. Then on New Years day, TakoKat powered on for the very first time; it felt pretty awesome. Oh I remember now! I wanted a good comp to do some gaming and my old desktop/ school laptop wasn't cutting it.

Haha that was a quick jump from June to January. Trying to think what was good in between... YES! Fall 2012 season anime ended and a very good one ranked 10 out of 10. The third to score a 10 for me. It was very lovely.

I also tried to grow my hair out to do something along the lines of  braiding it like Ed from FMA but it didn't work out too well. It got too irritating and people kept nagging me so I cut it at a point.

My figure collecting continues to grow :) Over the summer, they all had to be packaged up and moved to the basement because my room on the second floor was too hot and heat can kill figures literally.

In January, I went to a transportation conference in D.C. and spent 3 nights there. Although the presentations and everything was overwhelming, it was pretty nice, learned a bit, enjoyed the atmosphere, and ate pretty well. Here's a picture of their subway station. All of the subway stations there are like a mile under, its crazy deep. With my love for trains, I want to ride all the trains/subways/monorails around the world.

I may have just consciously realized my first anime crush today from something new I'm watching right now. Her face is as beautiful as my first love, her personality is as sweet as chocolate, her cuteness can match that of any KyoAni's characters, and her passion is a strong as passionfruit (lols?). I want to fill this post with her pictures. Hmm? I don't feel as embarrassed as I thought I would including this in the post. The so-called "beauty in vain", Chihaya!

In the video game category, I played Aion for about 2 weeks, a game similar to WoW. The graphics, character design, outfits, emotes and small things are superior in every way. I was making myself comfty for a long stay but I eventually hit a point and realized how broken the gameplay/community was and couldn't take it. People swimming in gold have gear that facerolls me, pvp is max level dominated, grinding isn't my thing, and I have no friends that play it. BUT!! I made a character in there that is uber cute =3

I wanted to make Zenkaikon this year but it's being held at Lancaster... which is like a 2+ hour drive away so I'd have to get a hotel room and find a way to travel there. Oh whelps, maybe next year.

Bioshock Infinite after being delayed twice is finally going to be released later this month. Excited excited excited!

That about concludes this post, I can't think of any other big big things in my life.
Vanvi out.

Zenkaikon Part II

After graduation, all the celebrations, and some time to myself, here's the promised post of Zenkaikon long overdue.

All I can say is I really enjoyed myself at my first anime convention! All the people, the energy, cosplayers, and events just made those 2 days very enjoyable for me. I met quite a number of great people and on top of it all, they share the same interest (anime and games!!). I definitely am going back next year again! I wish I can go to more of these conventions such as Otakon although they're rather far away and I lack the transportation as well as housing means *loooooong sigh*... for now that is!

Cosplaying was really fun, especially when people come up and ask for pictures ^_^ I don't think I'll ever attend an anime convention w/o dressing up as someone because this pretty much made Zenkaikon complete for me. I really wish to become close friends with several others interested in anime/manga/games in the future because well... we all want friends who share the same interest, right? And from there, do a group cosplay. Now that will be a new dream of mine come true: interest related friends and cosplaying together. In the meantime, I have even thought about what I should go as next time; I want to do some more cross over characters because well... not much of them are done and I hate being cliche/typical tehehe.

Those are my after thoughts of Zenkaikon and future plans in that area. And now, some pictures to wrap this post up!
My cosplay outfit with everything except the matching color shirt and pants of squirtle, got a lot of help from family in making this because I lack major sewing skills
